Government Spending
Today's state and federal governments are for the most part, financially screwed. It seems that almost everywhere we go, government is spending money like crazy and is always in need of more. Most states have a deficit of some sort, and have no way out of it. I'm not here to claim why exactly this is, or what they should do about it, but I can say that I have come to the realization that our modern day government has no idea how to make and spend money. Our bureaucracy ridden government is incredibly inefficient and slow at getting anything accomplished. I believe the main advantage of capitalism over socialism is just that: Low bureaucracy, and more productivity equals higher quality of goods and services and oh yeah, more cash.

I agree with you. Companies and individuals look to the government to bail them out of sticky situations. Then they complain that the government spends too much money. Very few people in our society can manage money and most of them are not in our government. We spend tons and tons of money on stupid unneeded projects and government officials give themselves a raise all with money that could be used better elsewhere. As a society we need to learn how to balance money!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to agree with you comepletely. We spend way too much money as a nation on things that are useless and meaningless. This is completely relevant in 200 years because people in that time will see how our government works, which drastically needs improvement.
